The Heart Behind My Work

My Story

I’m Zoe Stratis (MPCC-P), a counsellor, educator, and someone who knows what it’s like when life breaks you open and nothing makes sense anymore.

In 2019, my first son died as a newborn. That loss fundamentally changed how I understand grief, trauma, and what healing actually requires.

It also radicalized me.

I saw how systemic failures compounded my pain: lack of parental leave and financial stability, medical incompetence, isolation, the expectation to ‘move on.’ I learned that grief doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it’s shaped by systems that inform who gets held and who doesn’t.

Since then, I’ve become a counsellor and grief educator, but not the kind who asks you to find silver linings or ‘trust the process.’ I refuse to minimize pain, spiritually bypass suffering, or individualize problems that are systemic.

My work is grounded in: Lived experience of profound loss, clinical training in trauma, grief, and nervous system regulation, feminist and anti-oppressive analysis, a refusal to separate personal pain from political context and the belief that healing happens in relationship and community, not isolation.

I work with people carrying too much in their bodies, their homes, and the world. People exhausted from inequitable labor, collective grief, moral injury, and the violence of living through collapse.

This is therapy that builds capacity to live truthfully alongside pain and to find meaning, connection, and strength for resistance even when the world is heavy.

I hold gentle, trauma-informed space for people navigating life’s challenges, weaving somatic practices, parts work, existential wisdom, and compassionate presence to help you find hope and purpose.

I’ve delivered workshops on perinatal loss and burnout at hospitals including Sechelt Hospital, Qathet Hospital, Squamish Hospital, and HOPE Centre (Lions Gate Hospital). I consult with healthcare teams, organizations, and purpose-driven companies on burnout prevention and grief literacy.

Whether through 1:1 counselling (BC residents), worldwide coaching, small group circles, workshops, or self-paced resources, my aim is simple: to walk beside you as you weave new threads of purpose and meaning into the unique tapestry of your life.
